Transition Message: From Black History Month to Women’s History Month

Black History Month reminds us that our story is one of brilliance carved through resistance, innovation, and community. It is a month that honors the architects of culture, the protectors of justice, the visionaries who dared to imagine more for all of us. As February closes, we carry forward the lessons, the names, the victories, and the unfinished work. And as we step into Women’s History Month, we don’t shift lanes—we expand them. Because Black history is women’s history. And women’s history has always been shaped, stretched, and strengthened by Black women whose contributions often went unrecognized but never went unfelt. This is the moment where the two months meet: - where Harriet’s courage becomes a blueprint for modern liberation, - where Ida’s pen echoes in today’s truth‑tellers, - where Serena’s power, Toni’s language, and Beyoncé’s cultural impact remind us that legacy is alive and evolving. We honor the foremothers who built the path and the women today who continue to widen it. We celebrate the stories that shaped us and the voices that are shaping what comes next. As we move from February into March, we don’t close one chapter and open another. We turn the page—and the same story continues: The story of Black History, which includes (Black) women leading, lifting, creating, and transforming their communities and ultimately the world.
